    Today, let’s draw Santa Claus!

Santa Claus brings gifts around the world - to well-behaved children - in a single night!
Remember; you can follow along, and if you need to stop,
please pause the video and come right back whenever you’re ready.
    Let’s get started.
I’ll be using a Sharpie Marker so my lines
are bold and easy to see.
    Let’s begin drawing Santa’s eyes.

His eyes are big and cheerful. I’ll leave some sparkle in his eyes.

His eyebrows are raised in delight!

His nose is also very round and jolly.

Santa has a big fluffy beard and mustache. So I’ll draw it beginning right under his nose...
...and covering his entire face down to his chest.

I want his beard to look soft and curly.

I’ll add his bottom lip sticking out so we can see him say Ho! Ho! Ho!

    Good.
Santa’s hat is a big, warm stocking cap lined with fur.

Draw some fuzzy texture to his fur lining his hat
I’ll draw it swinging to the side so we can see the fluffy ball at the end.

Next, let’s draw his Santa suit!
He’s got a big, heavy fur-trimmed jacket. He needs to stay warm on those cold winter nights.

And he has a broad buckled belt wrapped tight around his belly.
I'm adding some depth to the buckle.
The ends of his jacket are sticking out from under the belt.
    Just a little extra.

Sometimes, Santa will climb up and slide down the chimney to deliver gifts,
but he has a magical way to get gifts under every tree.
Let’s draw his near arm bent up and to the side. Toasty mittens cover his hands.
He's clinching his sack of gifts; which is draped over his shoulder.
I’ll tell you, Santa must be really strong to carry all those presents!

Let’s draw his HUGE, round gift sack.
It has lots of wrinkles coming from the handle, where he's grasping it.
    Yeah.
    WOW. That’s pretty cool!

His far arm is tucked to his side, and he is giving us a big Thumbs Up!
    Thanks Santa!

    Let’s continue with his legs.
His pants match his jacket with a fur cuff on the bottom of each leg.

    Now, lets draw his boots.
He is standing at an angle, so his near boot is pointed towards us...
...and his far boot is pointed to the side.
He’ll need to lace his boots up tight! And where lots of socks!

    Good!
I’ll finish with some details here and there…
…like curls to his beard, some wrinkles in his baggy clothes...

...and more fluffiness to the fur trim.
    Alright! We drew Santa Claus!
Now, I always encourage artists to consider drawing the background when you can, but today
we are going to save the background for when we illustrate our drawing in the next video.

Ok, we’re finished drawing, now let’s add some color!
I’ll use a bright red for his Santa suit, brown for his gift sack, and a yellow for his big belt buckle.
Think of some other colors that you’d like to use and feel free to use your imagination!
Ok, are you ready? Alright, let’s go!
    Yeah! We did it!
    We colored Santa Claus!
(sleigh bells ringing and Santa: Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!)
    Now, let’s illustrate it!
    I’ll show you how.
